Dear friends, admins and all moderators of the community. Budget efficiency is a country's effort to use financial resources to achieve set goals at the lowest possible cost without reducing quality. Budget efficiency in the context of an agency or a country is by trying to utilize funds appropriately.
Budget efficiency is currently on the rise in our beloved country, Indonesia. The current government is trying to cut various expenditures that were previously budgeted by the previous government. Many ministries in the country have been affected by this budget efficiency, including the ministry of education.
On the positive side, the government's budget efficiency is to save on budget use without reducing the quality of education. However, the big impact of budget efficiency carried out by the government, especially on the world of education in our country, is very large.
This policy is intended to optimize the use of funds so that they are more targeted. However, budget efficiency in the education sector is not a simple matter. If carried out incorrectly, this policy could actually backfire and hinder the development of the world of education, especially in our country, Indonesia.
Following are some of the impacts of budget cuts in the education sector which I have summarized from several sources
1. Declining Quality of Education
Limited budgets can have an impact on reducing the quality of teachers and educational facilities. Apart from that, access and learning resources will also have an impact.
2. Increasing School Dropout Rates
It is feared that cuts to the education budget will impact students from poor families. The reason is, they depend on government assistance. If budget efficiency causes aid to decrease, then the school dropout rate could increase. This is because poor students can no longer afford to pay school fees.
3. Difficulty in Accessing Education in the Regions
The number of schools in the city is currently not evenly distributed, especially in the regions. Some schools still don't even have their own buildings. So it is feared that cuts to the education budget will slow down the provision of schools in the regions.
4. Mass Dismissal of Honorary Teachers
Reflecting on 2024, several honorary teachers will experience mass unilateral dismissals. If budget cuts are implemented, it is possible that the layoffs will happen again.
Hopefully the government's plans for budget efficiency, especially in the world of education, can be re-evaluated so that they do not have a negative impact on the world and the wheels of education in Indonesia.
