L'altro giorno ci ha lasciato anche Pele'.
Ho fatto in tempo a vederlo giocare, avevo 8 anni ma ricordo ai mondiali del 1970 in Messico sia la semifinale epica coi crucchi finita 4-3 per noi, che la finale dove il Brasile di Pele' ci ha asfaltati malgrado il fatto che l'Italia aveva fatto il massimo.
Iconica l'immagine di O'Rey che salta su Tarcisio Burgnich, uno
che se lo incontravi per strada cambiavi marciapiede, dove il
brasiliano segna di testa sovrastando letteralmente il nostro mastino.
Poi lo ricordo nei Cosmos con il nostro Giorgione Chinaglia a
spendere gli ultimi scampoli di carriera strappando l'ultimo
ingaggio importante in epoca in cui gli stipendi erano ben
differenti da quelli attuali.
Ho visto almeno 10 volte Fuga per la vittoria con la sua mitica
rovesciata contro la squadra dei nazisti.
E' stato il piu' grande di sempre?
Io punto ancora e sempre su Maradona non fosse altro che Pele' non e' mai uscito, a parte la parentesi statunitense a fine carriera, dal Brasile e dal suo Santos.
Non e' mai venuto in Europa a confrontarsi con i difensori di
quell'epoca che se non erano dei delinquenti poco ci mancava.
Diego non lo ha mai amato, accusandolo di essere funzionale al sistema Uefa e Fifa che ci ha regalato questi ultimi mondiali demenziali in mezzo al deserto in pieno inverno.
Ci furono anche feroci polemiche fra i due anche se mi pare che negli ultimi anni le cose si siano in parte appianate.
E' stato davvero un giocatore pazzesco con i suoi oltre 1200 gol fatti nella stragrande maggioranza nel campionato brasiliano.
La vittoria ai mondiali del 1958 in Svezia con lui che a 17 anni fa
impazzire il mondo sono rimasti nella storia, forse ancora di piu' rispetto a quelli del 1962 e del 1970 sempre vinti dal Brasile.
E' stato il solo ad aver vinto 3 mondiali, certo con compagni di squadra pazzeschi ma lui e' sempre stato il valore aggiunto.

Diego never loved him, accusing him of being functional to the UEFA and Fifa system that gave us these last crazy World Cup in the middle of the desert in the middle of winter.
There were also fierce controversies between the two even if it seems to me that in recent years things have partially smoothed out.
He was really a crazy player with his over 1200 goals scored in the vast majority in the Brazilian championship.
