Negli ultimi giorni del 2024 si sono consumate un paio di tragedie che hanno visto coinvolti degli italiani.
Tragedie che dimostrano che quando manca il giusto rispetto per la natura, e la sfiga e' in agguato, c'e' poco da fare.
La prima riguarda i due alpinisti morti sul Gran Sasso.

Sono stati trovati sotto 2 metri di neve dai soccorritori dopo 5 giorni in cui le ricerche erano state ostacolate da un tempo da cani.
Ho letto un intervista ad alcune guide alpine del Gran Sasso, era previsto per il pomeriggio di quel giorno un peggioramento delle condizioni atmosferiche, loro, le guide del Gran Sasso, non sarebbero uscite con quelle previsioni non belle.
Quindi sicuramente la sfiga ha avuto la sua parte ma forse, lo dico col massimo del rispetto che una tragedia simile merita, e' mancata un po' di prudenza.

Tre anni fa, con i miei Villans gli amici di sempre e per sempre, siamo andati al rifugio Gastaldi, nel torinese.
Camminata impegnativa, appena il giorno prima della nostra ascesa era morto, colto dalla nebbia e finito in un canalone, un tipo del posto che portava il mangiare al rifugio.
Era una cosa che faceva da anni ma e' bastata la sottovalutazione di una situazione, il trovarsi in mezzo alla nebbia, quasi al buio, in una strada che faceva da sempre per perdere la vita.

Siamo partiti con qualche apprensione e dopo aver visto che la giornata sarebbe stata limpida secondo le previsioni.
E' andata bene ma e' stato impegnativo, una volta arrivati al rifugio e mangiato un panino siamo subito scesi prima che la visibilita' calasse.
Dell'altra tragedia parlero' domani perche' anche in quel caso posso condividere una esperienza personale.

In the last days of 2024, a couple of tragedies involving Italians occurred.
Tragedies that show that when there is no proper respect for nature, and bad luck is lurking, there is little that can be done.
The first concerns the two mountaineers who died on Gran Sasso.

They were found under 2 meters of snow by rescuers after 5 days in which the search had been hampered by bad weather.
I read an interview with some Gran Sasso mountain guides, the weather conditions were forecast to worsen that afternoon, they, the Gran Sasso guides, would not have come out with those not so good forecasts.
So bad luck certainly played its part but perhaps, I say this with the utmost respect that a tragedy like this deserves, a little caution was lacking.

Three years ago, with my Villans, my friends forever and ever, we went to the Gastaldi refuge, in the Turin area.
Challenging walk, just the day before our ascent a local guy who was bringing food to the refuge had died, caught in the fog and ended up in a gully.
It was something he had been doing for years but it was enough to underestimate a situation, to find himself in the middle of the fog, almost in the dark, on a road he had always taken to lose his life.

We started with some apprehension and after seeing that the day would be clear according to the forecast.
It went well but it was challenging, once we arrived at the refuge and ate a sandwich we immediately went down before the visibility dropped.
I will talk about the other tragedy tomorrow because in that case too I can share a personal experience.
