Mi capita spesso di leggere come lo sport cubano sia in crisi di risultati ed ovviamente di investimenti.
Tutto e' opinabile, ai recenti mondiali di atletica qualcosa e' arrivato, ai mondiali di Baseball Cuba e' arrivata terza o quarta non ricordo bene.

La pallavolo ha vissuto tempi migliori e' vero, ma tutto si e' arenato con la perdita della generazione d'oro, quella che e'
succeduta a Despaigne e compagni parecchi anni dopo.
In realta' quella generazione e' ancora in giro e miete successi, soltanto che non lo fa con addosso la bandiera di Cuba.
Due esempi recentissimi.

Si sono svolti gli europei maschili e femminili, si e' laureata campione continentale femminile la Turchia.
Miglior giocatrice del torneo la “turca” Melissa Vargas.
Cubana de pura cepa, padre giocatore di pallamano, e' entrata a farparte delle selezioni giovanili cubane di volley all'eta' di 13 anni.
A 16 anni riceve un offerta per andare a giocare nella Repubblica Ceca, il trasferimento si concretizza col permesso delle autorita' cubane.

Va a giocare nell'Agel Prostejov dove nel 2016 si infortuna alla spalla, rientra in patria per curarsi ma la famiglia sceglie una clinica diversa da quella indicata dalla federazione di pallavolo, in questo modo l'atleta viene sanzionata con l'esclusione dalla nazionale per 4 anni diventando una sorta di “indesiderabile”.

Si reca di nuovo in Europa, con lo status di richiedente asilo firma per gli svizzeri del Volero Zurich dove vince 2 campionati.
Si trasferisce in Turchia nel Ferenbahce diventandone un idolo.
A quel punto la Turchia si attiva per farla diventare una sua cittadina, cosa vista mille volte anche da noi, la gente comune aspetta anni, gli sportivi hanno sempre una corsia preferenziale.
La Vargas riceve la carta d'identita' turca direttamente dalle mani del presidente Erdogan, dal 2023 gioca in nazionale.

Si sono svolti anche gli europei maschili di pallavolo, l'Italia ha perso di brutto in finale contro la Polonia, la star dei vincitori e' stato il “polacco” Wilfredo Leon.
Anche in questo caso parliamo del giocatore insignito del titolo di migliore del torneo.

Gioca a Perugia con un mega contratto da 1.5 milioni all'anno.
Leon a 14 anni giocava gia' nella nazionale maggiore cubana, a 17 perse la finale dei mondiali, da capitano, col Brasile insieme a dei compagni che avrebbero potuto scrivere, insieme, storie
memorabili per la pallavolo dell'isola.

Santiaghero, il padre faceva lotta greco romana, la madre pallavolista, uno zio cestista.
Nel 2013 aveva problemi alla spalla destra e si innamora di una ragazza polacca Malgorzata, oggi sua moglie.
Per poter giocare all'estero deve stare fermo un anno e mezzo, poi riesce ad uscire legalmente dal paese, nessuna fuga clandestina.
Nel 2014 gioca a Kazan in Russia, poi arriva in Italia a Perugia con alle spalle gia' 4 Champions vinte.
In Polonia non sono esattamente solidali con gli stranieri ma anche in questo caso la nazionalizzazione e' arrivata rapidamente, grazie alla moglie, cosi' come la convocazione in nazionale.

Cos'altro dire?
Come vedete Cuba continua a sfornare campioni malgrado che sia un piccolo paese strozzato dal bloqueo e con una grande crisi economica in atto, il problema e' che poi se ne vanno, legittimamente, a guadagnare cifre importanti.
Perche' non consentire di farlo senza doverli perdere per la nazionale?

Ci vuole un genio per capire che le 2 cose, giocare all'estero e vestire la maglia della nazionale, sono assolutamente conciliabili come avviene in ogni parte del mondo?
Sarebbe poi ora di finirla con questo indegno mercato di compra vendita di atleti che passano da una nazione all'altra, invece mi pare che il governo dello sport mondiale vada in direzione opposta.
