I MUSICAL NON PIACCIONO ?
Hollywood evita spesso di promuovere i musical come tali, cercando di enfatizzare altri aspetti del film per attirare un pubblico più ampio. La percezione comune è che il genere musicale sia di nicchia e possa alienare parte degli spettatori. Di conseguenza, si preferisce presentare questi film come drammi, commedie o storie romantiche, relegando l’elemento musicale in secondo piano.
Cosa rende tale un musical?
Una storia che prende vita e che include l'uso della musica (dal vivo) con l'aiuto di cantanti che contribuiscono a far progredire la storia. E l'intero cast canta in una canzone e e ballano recitando.
Film di successo come La La Land o The Greatest Showman hanno dimostrato che questa strategia può funzionare, portando i musical a essere accettati anche da chi solitamente non apprezza il genere. In un panorama cinematografico dominato da blockbuster e franchise, l’etichetta “musical” rischia di sembrare meno attrattiva, spingendo gli studios a puntare su un marketing che renda il prodotto più accessibile e appetibile.
Alla base di questa scelta c’è anche un cambiamento nel modo in cui i musical vengono concepiti: le produzioni moderne tendono a integrare le canzoni in modo meno teatrale e più fluido, creando un’esperienza ibrida che meglio si adatta alle aspettative del pubblico contemporaneo.
Non ha tutti piacciono i musical, penso sia un genere di nicchia, può piacere come non piacere.
Ultimo musical uscito in questi mesi è wicked, lo trovo molto bello, ed è interpretato da 2 grandi donne : Ariana grande e Cynthia Erivo.

DON'T LIKE MUSICALS?
Hollywood often avoids promoting musicals as such, trying to emphasise other aspects of the film to attract a wider audience. The common perception is that the musical genre is niche and can alienate part of the audience. Consequently, people prefer to present these films as dramas, comedies or romantic stories, relegating the musical element to the background.
What makes a musical a musical?
A story that comes to life and includes the use of (live) music with the help of singers who help move the story forward. And the entire cast sings in song and dances while acting.
Successful films like La La Land or The Greatest Showman have shown that this strategy can work, leading musicals to be accepted even by those who do not usually appreciate the genre. In a film landscape dominated by blockbusters and franchises, the label ‘musical’ risks seeming less attractive, prompting studios to focus on marketing that makes the product more accessible and appealing.
Underlying this is also a change in the way musicals are conceived: modern productions tend to integrate songs in a less theatrical and more fluid way, creating a hybrid experience that better suits the expectations of contemporary audiences.
Not everyone likes musicals, I think it is a niche genre, it can be liked or disliked.
The latest musical released in recent months is wicked, I find it very beautiful, and it stars 2 great women: Ariana grande and Cynthia Erivo.
