E niente, ancora Netflix, ancora e ancora e ancora netflix.
Con l'uscita di scena dei cinema, che purtroppo hanno detto addio quasi completamente alla stagione 2020, sperando di tornare a riempire le sale dalla primavera del 2021, Netflix, ed in generale le piattaforme streaming più rilevanti, hanno fatto piazza pulita di tutti i titoli in uscita nelle sale, o meglio quelli che sarebbero dovuti uscire al cinema ma che non hanno potuto farlo.
Uno dei film che ad inizio 2021 ha fatto capolino nel catalogo Netflix è "The Dig", in Italia uscito con il titolo "La nave sepolta".
Un cast interessante dove spiccano Ralph Fiennes e Carey Mulligan ed una storia vera che è utile e importante ricordare, rendono questo film molto godibile, seppur con evidenti lentezze e rigidità che non sempre ne permettono una visione spensierata.
Protagonista di questa pellicola è una nave, non una nave qualsiasi ma un reperto storico, archeologico di vitale importanza per la società anglosassone.
Il film, più che tributare un omaggio al reperto in sè, vorrebbe offrire un giusto omaggio a chi quel reperto.
Basil Brown è colui che avuto il merito e la tenacia di scavare e credere in questa storia, in questa incredibile scoperta.
Uomo semplice e di sanissimi principi, gran lavoratore, che incontra la signora Pretty sulla propria strada, donna giovane e bella ma malata.
Insieme saranno i protagonisti di questa bella storia.

Sono tanti i passaggi in cui i silenzi prevalgono, la paura di una guerra incombente assale l'intera vicenda, ma è anche un film che regala delle belle frasi, delle belle riflessioni, figlie, soprattutto, della malinconia di Edith per una vita che le sta sfuggendo e per il gentile riscatto di Basil per una scoperta che lo renderà probabilmente celebre in tutto il mondo e di generazione in generazione.

Carey Mulligan torna ai fasti di "An Education", film che le valse la candidatura all'Oscar, lasciandoci un'interpretazione molto tenera e semplice ma che restituisce con forza il carattere gentile ma determinato di una donna madre che sa di lasciare un figlio solo al mondo quando la malattia la porterà via.
E' un film che non regala chissà cosa ma che merita una visione.
In questo momento sono pochi i capolavori su cui gli appassionati possono contare.
Questo film è proprio in questa categoria di film buoni ma non eccellenti di cui forse in questo momento è meglio accontentarsi.

An interesting cast where stand out Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan and a true story that is useful and important to remember, make this film very enjoyable, albeit with obvious slowness and rigidity that does not always allow a carefree viewing.
The protagonist of this film is a ship, not just any ship but a historical, archaeological find of vital importance to Anglo-Saxon society.
The film, rather than paying tribute to the find itself, would like to offer a fitting tribute to those who that find.
Basil Brown is the one who had the merit and tenacity to dig and believe in this story, in this incredible discovery.
A simple and principled man, a hard worker, he meets Mrs. Pretty on his way, a young and beautiful but sick woman.
Together they will be the protagonists of this beautiful story.

There are many passages in which silences prevail, the fear of an impending war assails the whole story, but it is also a film that gives beautiful sentences, beautiful reflections, daughters, above all, of Edith's melancholy for a life that is slipping away and Basil's gentle redemption for a discovery that will probably make him famous throughout the world and from generation to generation.

Carey Mulligan returns to the splendor of "An Education", the film that earned her an Oscar nomination, giving us a very tender and simple interpretation that strongly conveys the gentle but determined character of a mother who knows she is leaving a child alone in the world when the disease takes her away.
It's a film that doesn't give you much, but it deserves to be seen.
Right now there are few masterpieces that fans can count on.
This film is right in this category of good but not excellent films that perhaps at this time it is better to settle for.
