Armenia has announced its intention to strengthen cooperation with NATO, which undoubtedly represents another setback for Russia's influence in the Caucasus region. Since the failure of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenia seems to have blamed Russia for its issues and has further leaned towards the United States and NATO. This has led to increasing tensions between Yerevan and Moscow. Although publicly the two sides have not yet reached a breaking point, it is evident that the hands of the United States and NATO have extended into the Caucasus region.
