Hello friends!!!Today I'm trying my hand at an architectural photography competition. I sometimes photograph interesting buildings, but here the task turned out to be difficult for me, since I need to send 5-6 photos of one building to the competition. And yet, in my archives, I found 6 photos of one building that I took with an ultra-wide-angle lens Samyang 14 mm. It creates interesting optical distortions, as it captures a huge space.
In the photos you can see the Armenia pavilion located in Moscow at VDNH.
In recent years, VDNH has undergone a large-scale reconstruction of the pavilions of all former republics of the USSR and now they have regained their original appearance.
Привет друзья!!!Сегодня я пробую свои силы в конкурсе архитектурной фотографии. Я иногда фотографирую интересные здания, но тут задача для меня оказалась сложной, так как надо отправить на конкурс 5-6 фото одного здания. И все же в своих архивах я нашел 6 фото одного здания, которые я сделал на сверхширокоугольный объектив Самьянг 14 мм. Он создает интересные оптические искажения, так как захватывает огромное пространство.
На фотографиях вы видите павильон Армения расположенный в Москве на ВДНХ.
В последние годы на ВДНХ происходила масштабная реконструкция павильонов всех бывших республик СССР и теперь они обрели первоначальный вид.
An impressive building. The coloums are beautiful and suits the building well. I also think that it would interesting to have a good look at the interior with all it's beauty and details.

Thank you) that day I had only one ultra-wide-angle lens and it allowed me to capture huge spaces. However, to shoot close-up details, other photographic equipment is needed

You chose a very interesting building to photograph, but in my opinion you abused the wide angle, in fact, the whole report is made with that lens and I think that in architectural photography must respect the verticals (as specified in the rules) and avoid distortions. This is just an opinion, as the technical assessment will be made by @xaviduran.

If I had a 50 mm lens at that moment, there would be no distortion, but I would not be able to take the whole space into the frame. There would only be fragments.

With 35-50 mm lens, he could capture only the door of this beautiful building. Or the sole handle detail on the door. Excuse me, you simply cannot talk about any abuse here... I object. If you are after "geometric accuracy" then its better to contact the draftsman, rather than photographer, imo.

Are you kidding me? Please tell me how to choose the right distance for photographing inside the room, if the length of the whole room is 4 meters only? or if I'm on a narrow medieval street in Prague - where do I need to go in this case, armed with a 35mm camera?

The extremely wide angle lenses fit bad with architectural photography, since the main rule of this photographic speciality is that verticals must be completely parallel.
With the 50 mm you may do a good work if you have enough distance from the subject or to catch some details.

Я впечатлён! Весьма интересно. Как любитель широкоугольных искажений - нет слов, сплошной восторг, будь я жюри приз отдал бы именно вам. Уже и по превью было видно: внутри поста что-то особенно хорошее.... Вторая фотка мне особенно зашла. Пока не прочитал текст, гадал каким углом снято, на рыбий глаз не похоже, на 16-ти (какой есть у меня) так хорошо не получается, про 14-ть не подумал :)
После такого ей ей не сильно хочется соваться в калашный ряд к именитому испанскому мэтру со своим рыльцем. А вот фотографии разрушенного здания, с торчащими как зубы окнами, ему наоборот понравились - наверное там все палочки попендикулярны?

Да я у него второй раз участвую и второй раз пролетаю как фанера над Парижем) С точки зрения академического подхода он прав: есть пункт о параллельности и он его придерживается, но полностью игнорирует другие параметры фотографии. Общее техническое качество (резкость и тд) и эмоциональное воздействие на зрителя.

Угу... свои приоритеты, свои критерии отбора, свои любимые темы, субъективизм короче, под который натянута теоретическая база. Один из помощников-младших кураторов в комментах под постом уже успела обменяться со мной ласковыми словами и послать изучать руководство по архитектурной фотографии. Предчувствую, что если будет следующий раунд обмена мнениями, то попрошу предъявить фотографии Саграда Фамилиа, снятого любимым 50мм объективом с нужной дистанции, так чтоб вертикали были паралельными (и чтобы фото были красивыми, с различимыми деталями и прочим!).
Я вот в первый раз поучаствовал; причем был на даче, пока вернулся, отобрал карточки и обработал - уже дедлайн наступил, видимо поэтому на меня квестодатель не обратил внимания, а если бы и обратил, отправил бы туда же, в поход за вертикалями. (Кстати, я сфоткал относительно свежепостроенное здание питерского Экспофорума - посмотрите, что скажете как профессионал? оно большое и длинное, в кадр просто так не войдет, мне самому кажется - я сфоткал не скучно, пристойно, хоть в журнал подавай).

Антощенкова я не слышал, но по вашей ссылочке посмотрел. Интересные ч\б фото различных Питерских уголков) Питер с непарадной стороны.
У вас да...огромное сложное здание и сфотографировать на другие объективы его вообщем то практически нереально. ( В идеале его с коптера сверху снять....но сейчас такое рисковано)
Возможно нам надо искажения убирать в фотошопе, но...стоит ли овчинка выделки, когда фото делаешь для себя, для домашнего альбома и во вторую очередь оно тут участвует в конкурсе. Мне будет лень, если честно))

Упс, я пропустил каким-то образом комментарий. Отвечаю спустя 4 дня :)
Насчет искажений - ну, какие-то простые я и для себя самого убираю.
Вот на заглавной фотке наверное углы тупо стоило подтянуть, чтобы стороны потолка были параллельны краям, мне это сильно резало глаз, а поправить можно безболезненно быстро.
Насчет здания Экспофорума - дык даже будь у меня дрон, я не стал бы заморачиваться. Что это даст, если все равно фоткать надо очень издалека, дабы обеспечить пресловутую параллельность?.. Хочется сблизи, с деталями, и динамизма, а не строгости.
Я вспоминаю, что иногда встречаю на авито в описаниях тех или иных шириков - что то типа "идеально для архитектурной фотографии", и понимаю, что стоящие задачи требуют именно широкого угла, а не зума ногами на киломентр от объекта. Оный зум я осуществлял на протяжении лет восьми, пока 50мм был моим почти единственным и главным объективом. Другое дело, что кроме угла, появляются доп.требования, но это уже другой вопрос. А в том, что снимать архитектуру на широкий угол (со свойственными ему искажениями), тут то вопросов вроде нет... у многих людей их нет ;)
Ладно.... я пошел готовить еду, ужин сам себя не обеспечит :))
