Landscape on the Edge of the Cool Laut Tawar Lake |

Lake Laut Tawar is a freshwater lake located in Takengon City, Central Aceh Regency, Indonesia. This 70 square kilometer lake is located in the Gayo highlands which has a cool climate, around 18 degrees Celsius.

It may not be considered cold by European standards or some states in the United States. But for a tropical country like Indonesia, a temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius is considered cool. Compare that to the city where I live, Lhokseumawe, which has a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

I like Lake Laut Tawar and have many activities in the tourist area, including when attending a media gathering attended by dozens of journalists in Aceh. I used that opportunity to photograph the natural beauty on the edge of Lake Laut Tawar 1,1000 meters above sea level.

Although all of them are located on the edge of Lake Laut Tawar, the photos that I post here are in three different locations. The first is near the Parkside Hotel where we stayed for two nights. To get to the edge of Lake Laut Tawar, I and a number of journalists walked and photographed the landscape there with the lake and mountains in the background.

The second location is at Teluk Mendale Cafe which offers a view of Lake Laut Tawar as the main "menu". There are not many favorite photo spots in this cafe and they may have been shown too often by visitors, including me who has visited this cafe dozens of times. However, I chose unusual photos to keep it exclusive.

Finally, I show photos of journalists taking part in an outbound activity on the edge of Lake Laut Tawar. This outbound location is only about 20 minutes away from Teluk Mendale Cafe.
