Meet "Forrest," Our Neighborhood Crow!

Forrest is a regular neighborhood crow that seems to have "adopted" us.

When he was an adolescent late last summer and had just left the nest, he somehow decided that the railing on our front porch was the perfect place to sit and squawk loudly for his parents to come and bring him food.

Of course the parent birds weren't very happy about being so close to a house, but Forrest wouldn't budge.

As he grew older, he'd practice flying from the roof of our house to the garage roof... and back and again. Over, and over, and over again.

Because we never chased him off, and occasionally let him have a few table scraps, he has become one of those wild birds that's not-quite-tame and not-quite-wild, at the same time.

He comes to the back yard every morning when we have coffee, in hopes that we might have some bread or other scraps as a treat.

He doesn't come super close to us, but he'll sit on a branch 10 feet above our heads when we bring food.

Crows are pretty smart birds. He knows exactly when we come out for coffee in the mornings, or at least when we're supposed to be there!

Thanks for stopping by and having a look!
