A Very Long Period of Darkness...

As I checked in on Steemit today, I noticed that it had been 22 days since my last post. Ouch!

Without any doubt at all, that is by far the longest I have gone without posting in my almost six years in this community.

Interestingly enough, my absence had nothing to do with the recent "crypto meltdown" triggered by FTX and Alameda Research.

What was going to be a relatively short planned absence during the second weekend of November — for our 31-year old daughter's wedding celebration in Seattle — turned into something far longer and more painful.

Well, maybe not exactly painful, but definitely annoying!

The wedding was a beautiful event and left us with lots of good memories.

Sadly, however, some of our relatives visiting from out-of-state brought with them a particularly virulent strain of influenza, and a couple of days after returning home my wife and I both fell very ill.

I suppose the situation was made a little bit worse by the fact that we were both already in a somewhat weakened state, due to the stress of the wedding planning and making everything happen "just so" (for several weeks prior) and our immune systems were compromised to begin with.

However, we got seriously SICK.

We spent the better part of a week in bed, barely able to move around... mostly just trying to sleep through it.

For the past 8-10 days we've just been trying to get past pervasive coughing and regaining our strength so we can start functioning like human beings again! No fun, at all!

A couple of times, I did try to sit down to try and write something, but my brain just felt like I was inside a thick fog bank, and nothing came.

So I gave up.

Now that we're finally feeling better, we face the long uphill road of catching up after basically having missed two weeks of working... as self-employed individuals.

Losing two weeks' worth of income is a major blow, sadly... but all we can do is pick up the pieces and try to play "catch up!"

In a couple of weeks, we are scheduled to participate in an arts and crafts fair with our creative works... so now we need to go into "overdrive" to get ready for that!

I'm just grateful for feeling better!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your Thanksgiving weekend!

Good to see you back on your feet! Here we are also noticing an increase in severe colds and viral infections - I think we are seeing the consequences of Corona measures: the avoidance strategy has avoided a lot of normal immune training as well. This seems to affect young children the worst....

Lovely photos, and glad you feel better.

Bellas todas las fotos.
