Coming and Going... and Returning

I have been on a bit of a break for a couple of weeks, not just from Steemit, but from many aspects of my daily routine.

I would love to be able to say it was as a result of conscious choice," but that would be a lie. The truth is that it was a matter of necessity; the necessity to put my every waking moment into "income generating" activities.

Being (somewhat) poor in the USA in 2024 in not something I would wish on anyone! Bottom line is that you can work your fingers to the bone and it ends up still not being enough!

Of course — as I have said before — it is entirely my choice to be self employed, and I would not wish to trade it in for a different kind of life. That said, it does shed a sobering light on the true nature of the proverbial "American Dream."

It is really more like winning the lottery than a matter of hard work!

Anyway, the most recent period of running like a mad fool was about a bunch of bills coming due while also needing to prepare to be ready for an event where I would be a vendor with my artwork this weekend.

Creating for a show and making a living (separately) is a very time consuming process and one that left no time for fun diversions like blogging on Steemit. Those are simply the facts; you have to put your available time, energy and effort where it offers you the most benefit.

So no, my recent absence had nothing to do with the US Presidential Election. In fact, I was barely even aware of the ongoing circus, except as a sort of background white noise.

And I have no comment or opinion about the outcome... only time will tell how it all pans out!

It is an interesting side note how it was the lack of civility on social media surrounding the 2016 election that ultimately prompted me to explore Steemit and create an account here because the content and commentary here seemed so much more civil and intelligent than I was experiencing elsewhere!

Eight years later I am still here, which is more than can be said for pretty much anything else online that I have gotten involved with. Except for eBay... but that's business.

Anyway, I believe that a lot of people "come and go," even when it comes to things they really like. And that applies regardless of whether or not they are "forced" by some kind of life circumstance. For me? I have an awful lot of interests I dabble in, and sometimes I might not touch one of them for several months just because something else is more important in those moments.

Anyways, now I return... at least for while, although I also have to navigate holiday show schedules during the weeks head. Always something to do!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead!

How about you? Do you ever take breaks, even from things you really like? Leave a comment if you feel so inclined — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!
