"Found Money" and Other Interesting Stuff!

I'm not sure how things work in other parts of the world, but one of the interesting things we have here in the USA is "unclaimed funds and property."

If you do business — in some way — with an organization like a bank, or an insurance company and a variety of other organizations, and even the government, any money that was owed to you but not paid is pretty much held "in perpetuity" until you claim it.

About a week ago — just for fun — I went to our state's property claim web site and entered my name. Much to my surprise, my name actually came up on a couple of items. Very small, but money, none-the-less!

One was for "unused premiums" on some renter's insurance I canceled before it actually ran out. The other was for an "experimental" credit card American Express came out with 15 years and gave everybody $25 for answering a consumer survey... except you couldn't actually use it anywhere.

I didn't actually expect anything to happen... but today I suddenly got a check in the mail for $57.77!

Of course, it's not really "free money" because I originally paid it for something, a very long time ago. But it's good to know that it didn't just "disappear into thin air!"

Now, if I could only find those old US Savings Bonds I put in a "perfectly safe place," some 35 years ago! No, I'm not kidding... I suppose they will eventually show up after I finish going through the closet in my home office.

With the economy the way it is, any unexpected amount of money — however small — is a welcome windfall!

Speaking of "Welcome Windfalls," I'd sure like to know what's going on with our Tron/TRX rewards!

Every day, it seems like I am "claiming" some, but it never actually show up in my TRX balance. What's more, a few weeks back, the amount rewarded cut in half. It used to be about the same as our SP rewards, now it's about HALF our SP rewards.

What gives?

If they are not planning to pay anymore, they should just announce that they are pulling the plug, and be done with it, rather than let people hang in eternal limbo!

Anyway, I know the last time I was credited for TRX rewards was 62 days ago, and I have earned somewhat over 250SP since then... so I'd expect a similar amount of TRX to be owing.
