What are your inner voices telling you?
No, I'm not going crazy here! I'm not claiming that I'm ”hearing voices” nor am I becoming schizophrenic!
I'm talking about that small ”inner voice” we pretty much all have that can be either an ”inner critic” or an ”inner cheering section”… although, typically, it's a little of each.
When I left home — at age 18 — my thoughts were heavily dominated by a lot of negative self-talk. pretty much every time I would make even the smallest of mistakes, my inner critic would rise up and berate me for being a careless idiot, a clumsy fool, or something similar.
Of course, that particular inner critic was merely a continuation of my upbringing… being raised by hypercritical parents led me to being extremely sensitive to anything that fell short of perfection.
It took many years as well as a couple of fairly intensive courses of psychotherapy to reach a point where my inner voices took on a more positive tone then became more likely to say things like ”allright, this is tough but you can do it!”
The importance of being aware of what your inner voices are saying, and the general tone they are using is that it seems to directly affect what sort of things we are willing to take on in life, what challenges we are willing to face, and what kind of attitude we bring to them.
It might sound silly, but if I were in her voice is constantly telling us that we're not going to do well at something… it does actually make a difference in terms of how we end up doing!
The human psyche is a fascinating place!
In learning to change my inner voice from negative to positive, I first had to become aware of how I was talking to myself when facing life's various challenges. Again, it might sound a bit crazy, but pretty much all of us talk to ourselves inside our heads at one point or another. Part of forging a positive path forward begins with simply becoming aware and listening to what we're telling ourselves.
Until I had the help of a very skilled counselor, I was really not aware how often I would be rate myself negatively inside my head.
So keep in mind that this kind of ”talking to yourself” is really not a sign of craziness, and by being aware of how you talk to yourself you can actually train yourself to do better at various things in life!
Thanks for reading and have a great remainder of your week!
How about YOU? Are you aware of having an "inner voice?" Or does that sound too crazy? Do you think our self-talk can affect our outlook and performance in life? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

This is a really wonderfull post, I really learnt a lot and saw my self in the picture. My dad is a difficult person to impress so no matter how much you put your best to something he would alway find a fault or two. So I alway push myself to perfection. I've thought in my head that I'm not good enough. But with the help of reading books and watching lot of videos on how to improve my self I realized I'm the best copy of me there is. I really love your post and the arrangement, the flowers are exceptional beautiful. Thanks for sharing the post with us my dear friend @denmarkguy.
