Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!
We have eaten your way through Christmas and spent time with good friends... and now everyone is just sitting quietly, enjoying another day of stillness.
Tomorrow (or today, for some of you!) is Boxing Day, and I have always enjoyed this time between Christmas and the New Year as a time to reflect on the year that was... and perhaps to take a cautious look towards what will be, in the year ahead.
I'm not big on making so-called "New Year's Resolutions," so I'm going to avoid that topic completely, and instead just think about some of the things that happened in 2022... and what we hope to do better in 2023.
I like this time because it tends to be fairly quiet, something I got used to back when I worked in the mainstream in the IT industry... and pretty much nobody showed up for work between December 27th and January 3rd... even though the office officially was open.
People in the USA Work Too Much!
I suppose it could be interpreted as a positive to have a good work ethic, but I also think it's an attribute that can be taken to unhealthy extremes.
Of course, I may be a bit biased because I grew up in Denmark, but I think it's a very civilized habit to essentially have mandatory time off from Christmas through the first few days of January. We really don't need to be working, all the time!
Part of the joy of working for myself is that I do have the opportunity to "just sit still" from time to time... although it seems to happen less often these days, due to the economic downturn.
Looking Forward...
I was thinking about things I'd like to work on and accomplish in 2023, and realized that most of these represent continuations of things I am already in the middle of.
Mrs. Denmarkguy and I have been "in the process" of downsizing our lives for several years now, and that process is going to continue... we know we are going to move to a smaller house in a few years; even though we love our home, it is really getting to be too much and too big for the two of us, especially as we age.
And we have a lot of stuff to get rid of before we can even think of fitting into a smaller place... hence eBay is "my friend," as are several local second-hand stores.
Do I have any specific "Steemit Goals?"
Well, that might be for a whole separate post, once we close out 2022 for good. It was not a good year in crypto... so I do know that my Steemit goals will be related to blogging and writing, not so much to investing.
But that's about all I have, for the moment.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope the Holiday Weekend has been kind to you!
