Rainy Days: Finding Inspiration When You Just Don't FEEL Inspired

Happy New Year, Steemlandia!

It has already been a few days in 2021, but this is actually my first post this year. I just haven't felt very inspired lately, as I sit here and look out on the 4th consecutive day of cold wintry rain.

One of the things my writing teachers of days long gone by would say is that the most important aspect of writing is to stick to it, even when you feel no inspiration.

Just Sit Down and Write!

Writing is like pretty much anything else we humans undertake: We get to be better runners because we train consistently, we become better cooks because we practice, we become better musicians when we play every day.

So I sat down to write this post with absolutely no idea as to what was going to come out!

It reminded me that often part of the reason someone ends up "forgetting" about their blog, or their diary, is that we put undue pressure on ourselves because we falsely believe that we shouldn't write "unless it is GOOD."

If there is one thing I have learned in 20-odd years of doing this, it is that perfectionism (however slight your tendency might be) is the enemy of creativity.

How About That Bitcoin?

Not related at all, I was pretty excited to see Bitcoin not just creep above the $30,000 level, but roar above it. Of course, that crazy rise wasn't sustainable, but it was still fun to watch.

Makes me wish that I still had some of the Bitcoin I bought at somewhere between $500 and $1000! Sadly, I had to sell that a few years back to pay for property taxes.

It's expensive to simply be alive in this day and age — at least here in the US of A. I was trying to get caught up on paying household bills earlier today and realized that there's not a single service we use that doesn't cost more than $100 a month!

I think of that old saying "easy come, easy go," which perhaps would be funny IF the "coming" part was actually easy, but it seems to get harder and harder to scrape by every year.

How about YOU? Is your 2021 off to a good and "inspired" start? When do you do when you feel uninspired? As always, comments, feedback and other interaction is invited and welcomed! Because — after all — SOCIAL content is about interacting, right? Leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Interesting writing philosophy, it gives food for thought, I use it in some things I do, not in writing though. Maybe I have to give it a try. But yes, consistency is the key.

Cheers!

It keeps a practice fresh in your mind if you take time to do it, even on days when you don't feel very inspired.
