Agreeable Mayan soft drink

I had not eaten maya for a long time, a bittersweet fruit, the bush is similar to that of a pineapple, when it is ripe its shell is yellow and the pulp is white with red seeds similar to onoto.
Many people consume it parboiled, I cooked them, then I took out the pulp and boiled that pulp over low heat sweetened with papelón (sugarcane), the resulting water I used to make a pleasant soft drink, at the base of the container it remained the pulp which I consumed as sweet.
This plant is very similar to the pineapple, they belong to the same family and its scientific name is Bromelia pinguin, it grows easily in arid lands with little water and plenty of sun.
Near where I live there are many small mountains called hills which were full of mayas and cacti, but with the invasion of their territory all these plants disappeared.
The photographs were taken with my cell phone camera, I am contributing 10% of the proceeds to @wox-helpfund.
