Summer in St.Petersburg 2024. Part 4

I wonder when the time will come when my archives will be in demand? Many photographers come to a time when they start showing their photos taken 15-20-30 years ago.

It seems to me that something must happen, change dramatically: fashion, era, regime, the appearance of cities.

A lot has to change in order to be able to say: look how it was before!

If you take a period of ten years, then little has changed during this time.

Perhaps the cars have become a little more modern, but there are also those that were ten years ago.

The appearance of cities is changing only locally: reconstruction of embankments, new roads and streets, old and new houses...

And we need such a time interval so that any picture from any city reflects some era, like Soviet postcards.

That is, it's too early for me to think of my archive as something historically valuable.

And this means only one thing: you just need to shoot the surrounding reality and someday it will become history.

You need to not only do your job, which is good, but also learn something new.

I am still touched by the metaphysical side of photography and I continue to study it.

But I'm not looking for metaphysics in the deep and abstract, but in the mundane.

I am not interested in the image itself, which many people try to make as abstract as possible, but what is inside, outside the picture, the internal code, vibe, vibrations, sensations.

These questions have been bothering me since childhood, when I still did not hold a camera in my hands.

But when I looked at books and magazines with photos, many of them felt like I was in that place. I could smell and hear sounds. Imagination?

Perhaps it was imagination then.

But now I have delved into it, done a lot of experiments and experiments and proved not only to myself that this is not imagination.

But I study not only the internal code, but also the surface code...that is, the picture itself, its physics, geometry, its perception, and why I currently prefer one genre or another.

It seems to me, if you take music, or ballet, or literature...then you can also explore the world.

Only these will be different angles of perception of the same space.

Any art is just a tool for learning about yourself and everything around you.

Well, how else can you live if there are a lot of questions in your head every day?

Just look for answers to them.

..And Peter is beautiful!

I've never seen it in winter, but I like it here in summer, everything suits me!

To be continued...
