We recently borrowed a friend’s studio apartment in Lime House Cut in East London which was very stylish and spacious (photographed). There were cooing pigeons in the pipes running along the high ceiling and, on neighbouring apartments, there were slogans spread across bolted, caged doors, like “Black trans lives matter”.
It is located in a former dog food factory, called “Spratts” which was converted into arts studios in the 1980’s. A penthouse studio apartment in this building was recently advertised for £950,000! There is an outdoor, rooftop garden and underground parking in a gated community. Whilst the neighbourhood area is relatively poor, it is a stone’s throw away from Canary Wharf with the skyscrapers of banks overlooking the area - a common juxtaposition in London 💭
