We still have the ongoing debate of readily available cures for COVID against taking the vaccine, this movement is of course headed by those who think the vaccines against COVID are actually dangerous and people should not let themselves be contaminated with them. You know I read a lot and it seems every vaccine has faced antagonism from a certain sector of the population, until its benefits are seen and most people are fine with them, there is still a fringe group who are against vaccines, any vaccine not just the COVID one, these are the real anti vaxers. Now we do know vaccines do work just by citing the polio vaccine, when I was a kid there were multiple people whose life was affected by polio, but now after the vaccination campaigns polio has practically been abolished. But the target is now the COVID vaccine, it was launched too fast, it is a new technology, it has not been tried. Well I do have to say I expect science to have progressed enough to be able to roll out a vaccine in record time, yes it is a new technology so doubts do exist, whether founded or not, and it is now being tried with apparent success. I have three shots and I feel I did the right thing.
But most of all I want to talk about two drugs that anti vaxers say big pharma is hiding there curative effects on COVID I am talking about Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, both are drugs to fight parasites not viruses. That is the first thing, I know from experience that Hydroxychloroquine is a very hard drug on your body, I had malaria over 40 years ago and since then I have had serious stomach problems, plus it seems it's not too good for the liver.
Now I want to tell you something the Honduras Ministry of Health had two programs to cure COVID, MAIZ and CATRACHO in CATRACHO Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine were part of the cure, with Maiz it was just Ivermectine. At first the Ministry gave out excellent numbers for these as a cure, incredibly President Trump used these experiences to promote these drugs. I remember him saying the Honduras President has shown me that these work, I don't know if it's true but I think we should give it a try.
Then here in Honduras it turned out the results were manipulated, the successes were not as they reported and they grossly under reported COVID deaths. And today this ministry is practically begging people to get the vaccine and MAIZ and CATRACHO are no longer used. So I really think they don't work.
The funny thing is that many people accuse big pharma of promoting the vaccines for profit yet these two drugs are also produced by big pharma, so what gives? You are either for or against big pharma, I know they are SOBs and for them profit is first, but I mean not taking the vaccine but taking unproven drugs for COVID produced by big pharma seems kind of hypocritical to me.
Luckily nowadays the severity of COVID is eased off and people even if they have then do not require admission to hospital or intensive care. You are right there are a lot of debate both about vaccines and drugs, on other hand the best way if prevention with simple stuff like face masks and avoiding the crowd. I am vaccinated but still very careful and still wear masks, that also contributed to stay away from ordinary cold. Maybe that is something we all have to think about common sense and use one measurement or another depending on situation.
