What Blockchain
A blockchain is a decentralized, digital ledger that records transactions on multiple computers in such a way that the record cannot be altered retroactively without the alteration of all subsequent blocks and the consensus of the network.
In other words, a blockchain is a secure and transparent way of recording transactions that operates independently of a central authority. The blocks in a blockchain are linked and secured using cryptography, and each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data.
The most well-known example of a blockchain is the one that underlies the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. However, blockchains have many other potential uses, including supply chain management, digital identity management, voting systems, and more.
Because of its decentralized nature and cryptographic security, the blockchain is considered to be a highly secure and transparent method for recording transactions and maintaining data integrity.
