CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST - WEEK #091 - Saint-Petersburg. Side view

The Peter and Paul Fortress was built before the rest of the current city, as a defense object, was named St. Petersburg and for a long time stood with its southern side to the city. No residential areas were built north of it. Historically important objects are still located to the south and we can see them all on the opposite bank of the Neva.

Once I went up to the observation deck, which is located on one of the buildings of the fortress, to take pictures of the city from this height.

Troitsky and beyond it Liteyny bridges across the Neva River, leading to the central part of the city

Most of my life in this city is connected with these bridges: when my home was in the Primorsky district, and my work was in the Admiralty, the main one was the Foundry Bridge. After moving to the Petrogradsky district, Troitsky took over his role.

View of the Palace embankment

I think that it is so named not only because the royal palace stands on it, but all the other buildings were also someone's palaces. The Winter Palace, the Admiralty building and the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral all together

It remains to cast a glance at the golden spire of the bell tower of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, to be touched by the angels, which can be seen from the viewing platform through the camera's viewfinder, to note the time spent upstairs, go down and never come up here again, because there is no special view from here at a low height of the bastion.

This is something extremely ancient: supports for a wooden flooring on the embankment, which was built after the completion of the fortress and has been lost for centuries. But for me, this is the most interesting thing on the current beach and in everything related to the fortress in general.

Great series of photos, I hope that acrobat is alive and well)) dangerous stunts.

He always landed successfully on the sand. I was also worried about him, but I couldn't catch the moment of landing in the frame.

Thanks.
