In the month of April, I bought basil at the gardenshop, which I planted in a larger pot.

Basil likes the sun, but in the middle of summer it is better suited to partial shade, so I put it on the balcony, where it gets partial shade in the afternoon.

Now in the month of July, it started to bloom, I asked what to do with the flowers and the gardener shop, they advised me, that the flowers should be cut off, so that the plant will grow more nicely and produce bigger leaves, and I was told that the flowers are also edible.

They also advised me to cut off the blooms as soon as possible, because the flowering weakens the plant and the edible basil leaves will no longer taste the best.

I use basil as a spice by plucking the larger leaves with my hand and thereby encouraging the growth of lower-lying leaves.

The blooms are white, the smell is more velvety.

I bought basil as a seasoning, for salads, for sauces, for pasta, personally, it tastes good to me, it smells nice freshly picked and is very healthy for the digestive system.
