On the shelf in my office this year, the Christmas cactus bloomed for the first time after three years. I made photographies from beging to end of blooming.

Interestingly, plants have joints and each joint has small roots, so I can create a new plant from the joints.
Based on the appearance of the plant, I didn't know if it was a Christmas cactus or an Easter cactus.
And it's a Christmas cactus.

These are plants of short days and long nights, because they come from Brazil, where it has such a climate.
They need many hours of darkness, a cool place and rest to set the buds. They bloom under such conditions and this can be anytime from November to March.

This Christmas cactus of mine bloomed for the first time this year, it had one and only flower and that was at the beginning of March.
And after flowering, it needs rest again.

It must rest immediately after flowering. We water it a little, just enough so that it does not dry out.

Photos from the beginning of flowering to the end of the flower.
