Located in the Serra Devassa area, in Sete Cidades, this lagoon was very important in the past, since its water, conducted through the long stone aqueduct called Muro das Nove Janelas, supplied the public fountains of Ponta Delgada. Occupying two vulcanic craters, most of the lagoon is surrounded by forests of cryptomeria and the road around is landscaped with azáleas.
