Treetop walkway awaits you in zone 3 at Kew in Richmond, London. It recently reopened with coronavirus restrictions being lifted. The construction is 18 metres high in the air and boasts stunning views.
Xstrata Treetop Walkway
As you can see from the photos I was lucky to go up the, not sure how many, steps on a bright sunny day (this year one of few here in south England!). So how not to feel special? Or like a squirrel? No they are a pest! Somebody here might say that so am I..So let's say like a jay bird which believe it or not can bury 5,000 acorns in autumn! Or like a woodpecker! Woody!
Birds-eye view of the treetops
The structure with its metal steps reminds me of climbing the Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately with no present capacity restrictions it was sort of crowded. Once up though it's not impossible to find a viewing platform to have just to yourself and start taking that money shot blocking all the background noise. There are even benches where you can have a sit down, take it all in and enjoy a sip of your favourite drink. Tea? Or if that sounds too English, why not coffee? Or even maybe something fizzy in a can?Maybe even a bit alcoholic? It's up to you as you're a tourist in your own city today so why not treat yourself?!
A nice place to spend a weekend. Many visitors, as you said, so the supposed tranquil experience in the tree tops is probably less atmospheric. However .. Views .. Clean air ... I am sure 100% joyful.
I didn't know jays are great acorn-eaters and collectors. I google-searched and read an article about them. They hunt, they catch rodents, frogs ... They can kill small birds ...
Interesting birds. I want to get a feather (I found some when I was a kid)... Now I know I must search for an oak wood first.

Thank you for reading 📖 my post @datych! Wish more people did 🙃Maybe few more will! Hopefully🤞
I saw a jay visiting my garden bird feeder once but it never (luckily!, as I’ve got baby birds) returned. If I find a jay’s feather 🪶 I’ll definitely photo it! This year by the way, over here in England 🏴 the common garden birds are running so late with their youngsters..Right now I have whole families of goldfinches, robins, great, blue and coal tits visiting daily to eat, drink and play!
