To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow. - Audrey Hepburn

I arrived back in England on Tuesday 18th June and yesterday I went to a local garden centre with my mum as she has plans to renovate the garden. It's already in motion, and as always, the first job is getting rid of a load of junk! It seems in this house we are always getting rid of stuff and the garden was always the space where things got dumped in between trips to the tip. So, understandably, my mum (and the whole family) has always wanted an outdoor space that can actually be enjoyed. The house isn't very big and so it would absolutely open up the space by being able to go out and enjoy the garden. England isn't exactly blessed with nice weather all year round but we do have nice days and I think it would be healthy to be outside more.

We do currently have a pond (that's also a work in progress) and until yesterday we had no fish. We got some Koi and another fish that I cannot remember what they're called, oops, haha. It will be nice to be able to sit by the pond, I've always loved fish from a small child, I would sit and watch them for hours - a great form of escapism! Anyway... The area by the pond was leveled out a while back and a wooden boarder was placed around it, if that makes sense - I'm not sure exactly what one would call it lol. There's room for an outdoor seating area that I know Mum really would love to have and so yesterday at the garden centre we were looking at different ground options, for example, slate and stones to lay in that marked area.

At first slate was the chosen option until after looking at the stones and some nice slabs to place amongst the stones. We loaded the car up with as many bags as the car could hold without it being weighed down too much and then we made a second trip and returned with the trailer to load up the rest. It turns out they calculated the bags to the area wrong and so a lot more bags of stone is required! Oops!!

We're also going to get one of those pop up green houses so that we can grow veggies and not have to worry about the elements spoiling them etc, I'm actually looking forward to that, I'm not at all green fingered but a girl can change hey?! I think we're also going to get some fruit trees and of course some nice plants and foliage too, because... Pretty!!

It's going to be a process but I'm sensing the urgency to get it completed so we can enjoy it this summer (hopefully we get a nice summer!). I'm also turning 30 this July and thought it'd be nice to have a "garden shin dig" haha! ;) I would like to go out and do something but I just never know what to do lol, a day out somewhere perhaps. Anyway, I'll give that some thought.

The garden centre was beautiful! It's got a lovely restaurant and cute little hidden coffee places around the centre amongst the trees. There was also a tram that goes around the centre for the little ones. They had such lovely things and it's a great place to walk around even if just searching for inspiration for a project. Here's to creating beautiful spaces!
