a bright life of amanita muscaria (10 fotos)

A few macros from my summer shoot. Amanita muscaria (fly agaric) is a masterpiece, very recognizable piece of art created by Nature -- everybody know about it, even kidz in the kindergarten know about it!

I will show you various stages of its life cycle.

It looks like this at the very birth: a simple white egg, not fancy at all. Just a little texture on its skin notable of mention.

Red color become more visible, as the mushroom's cap develops.

The cap fully opened -- the mushroom developed fully into an awesome fellow. Now insects and animals start to examine its qualities and try to get use of it. Insects use it as a resting spot, or airfield, beetles and slugs prefer to value its "nutrition facts" -- I always see those mushrooms with biting traces, like this. Which means someone considered it tasty -- thats for sure!

After the blooming, comes inevitably the decay stage of lifecycle.

Aged mushrooms has their caps rise upward, forming kind of a "plate" or "bowl" that accumulates rainwater. This allows resourceful froggies to use this mushroom as a penthouse, with a Jacuzzi bath and a solarium. Isnt that sweet?
