Always Six Seasons for the Magnanimous Narcissist 2017. Acrylic on window, 36 x 36"
At this latitude, May and October are my favorite months of the year. Sunshine, green grass, and flowers. Schizophrenia? Hell yeah! I can be in such a great mood sniffing lilacs, and suddenly fly into a howling rage over the massacre of Palestine. Then just as quickly, right back to “Skip to My Lou...” I’m so unsettled and it’s wonderful!
Ah, spring! Soil turning up sweet forgotten dirt smells. Our U.S. Congress turning into fascism, the worst stink! The painting is a concept by Kurt Vonnegut. He wrote that at these northern latitudes, there are six, rather than four seasons. The warming up and cooling down times deserve to be recognized. The spring equinox ushers in a long, slow warming. It will take a while to see the green grass and flowers grow. Once the earth is all hot from summer, fall takes its sweet time cooling down to winter.
Well, we’re out of the warming up season. I planted my hops pole today, and mowed the lawn.
I have no idea where this painting is. Maybe somebody bought it.
