The Less You Worry

As humans, one of the emotions that can be experienced at some points in life is worry. A very major part of these worries center around fear, uncertainty and concern. It is worthy to note that worry is different from thinking. The latter can help you to plan ahead and be productive, while is former is a burden. It is true that you should be cautious about a couple of things, but you have to know where to draw the line before it tilts towards worrying. Just to let you know; no matter how much you worry about a challenge or a problem, it will not get it solved. In fact, there is no benefit in worrying, so it is unwise to engage in it.

One of my mentors once said that "if you worry about the future and about something happening, but it does not happen, it means you have wasted your energy and worried in vain." But I also said, even if what you worried about later happens, then it will also create more worries, which means you now have multiplied worries. There is almost nothing that is done out of worries that produces any positive result. There is nothing that drains energy and hinders productivity like worrying. This is because it prevents one from taking any positive step for fear of the outcome or some other uncertainty, and without taking step, the results will not be delivered.

A lot of people do not know that worrying is a lot of burden on its own. In fact, it is like carrying weights that are unnecessary on your shoulders. In the physical, when you carry heavy load on your shoulders, it will impede your speed and even limit your productivity. This same thing happens when you worry a lot; it becomes an unnecessary load on your mind and your emotions. Okay I ask you; why do you spend valuable time worrying about the things that you can neither control nor influence? This same time, if channelled to the areas that you can control, you will have more results to show. Apart from the fact that worrying drains one mentally, it also has negative effects on the health and can lead to stress, depression and other health challenges.

You need to condition your mind to worry less. Before we take a look at how to achieve this, let us consider why you need to worry less. Firstly, the solution to the issues of life cannot be delivered through worrying, rather it complicates the whole thing. Secondly, it can steal one's joy and make them to live in a feeling of sadness, especially when they worry about negative things and they eventually happen. People who worry themselves excessively often tends to miss out of the amazing moments of life that can brighten their day. More importantly, worrying can distract you from pursuing and actualizing your goals. Of course you cannot be using the same mind to be worrying and thinking positively at the same time; one has to go for the other.

Now that we have seen why you need to worry less, let us take a look at how to achieve it. Firstly, you need to live in the present - that is, learn to take each moment and each day as it comes. Instead of beating yourself over what the future will be, try to focus your attention and channel your energy more on the present. Focusing more on your today, helps to reduce anxiety and unnecessary pressure. In addition to this, also learn to control only what you can, and accept or let go of what you cannot.

The next way to allay worries is to take actions. Instead of staying and worrying over a problem, it will do you good to stand up and look for the solution and then take actions towards it. Taking even a small step towards solving a problem is far better than worrying over them. Each time you see yourself tilting towards worries, then remind yourself that it is time to take actions. Trust me, the more actions you take, the less the need to worry, because what you would have worried about may have been solved.
