This year 2020 was a year, many thought that will be a very wonderful year to them. Many people, towns and cities engaged in a fanfare to ushered in this year but they are highly disappointed what it turned out to be. Deadly diseases championed by Coronavirus codenamed Covid-19 started from 2019 but became pandemic in this year 2020, kidnappering, banditry, armed robbery, police brutially, endsars saga etc are what 2020 evaloped us with and troubled us till the very bad especially to us nigerians.

CORONAVIRUS

IMG_20201221_234037_303.jpgimage Source

Humans will never forget in hurry what this virus did to us. For us Nigerians, we were hitted at worst and when we did not expected it. Coronavirus started in the Huwan, China in the year 2019, but spread to other part of the world including Nigeria. We get our index victim as a forgeiner, an italian that worked in a cement industry at Ewekoro, Ogun State came into the country via Lagos International airport, although he was not showing symptoms but he had that virus which easily infested many other peoples. More victims later entered to the nation there escalating the number of causaties, many of our wealthy and politicans was not left behind but had a big share of the dead ones. A lot of superstition beliefs, illeracy and ignorancy play a vital role in spreading the diseases as many thought and said it openly that the disease does not exist and the bad politicians are using this means to enriched themselves. Many downplayed all safety measures even the clergy did not help this cause as they was after their pocket even in the hit of this diseases.
Government tried to set up an agencies called Nigerian center for diseases and control "NCDC"which help to migitate the speard of this diseases.

Government also lock down everywhere and stop all socio-economical activities just to curtailled the spread of this diseases. Face-mask, alcohol based sanitizer and hand washing means was encouraged to help everyone too.
There were many nongovernmental organisations and individuals that work government of any level to mitigate the spread of covid 19, treatment and provision of pallitives for everyone to reduces the bad effects of lock down measures of the government and help people in different ways. This year 2020 will never be forgetted because of this disease.

Kidnappering and Banditry. Insecurities is very high in Nigeria and can not be attached to one factor as it cause. The causes include poverty, illeracy, insincerity of government, poor welfare of the soldiers etc. Kidnappering and banditry is a crime committed in all part of the country but it is on highest at the north. Maybe because of the devilish activities of the terrotist group called Boko haram and childish way of the government to persecute the war against them. School children are kidnappered and killed on daily basis, farmers are beheaded, cattles are rustled, security agencies like police and soldiers are killed, maimed and kidnappered daily too... This year 2020 remain the year when all this occured highly and frequestly.

ENDSARS SAGA.

End SARS is a decentralised social movement , and series of mass protests against police brutality in
Nigeria. The slogan calls for the disbanding of the
Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a notorious unit of the Nigerian Police with a long record of abuses. The protests which takes its name from the slogan started in 2017 as a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #ENDSARS to demand the disbanding of the unit by the Nigerian government . After experiencing a revitalisation in October 2020 following more revelations of the abuses of the unit, mass demonstrations occurred throughout the major cities of Nigeria, accompanied by vociferous outrage on social media platforms. About 28 million tweets bearing the hashtag have been accumulated on
Twitter alone. Solidarity protests and demonstrations by Nigerians in diaspora and sympathizers occurred in many major cities of the world. The protests is notable for its patronage by a demographic that is made of entirely young Nigerians. The movement has since expanded to include demands for good and accountable governance.
Within a few days of renewed protests, on 11 October 2020, the Nigerian Police Force announced that it was dissolving the unit with immediate effect. The move was widely received as a triumph of the demonstrations. However, it was noted in many quarters that similar announcements had been made in recent years to pacify the public without the unit actually being disbanded, and that the government had merely planned to reassign and review SARS officers to medical centres rather than disband the unit entirely. Protests have continued accordingly, and the Nigerian government has maintained a pattern of violent repression including the killing of demonstrators. There have been international demonstrations in solidarity with those happening in the country, and the movement has also grown increasingly critical of Muhammadu Buhari's government response to the protests.
SARS officers have been alleged to profile young Nigerians, mostly males, based on fashion choices, tattoos and hairstyles. They were also known to mount illegal road blocks, conduct unwarranted checks and searches, arrest and detain without warrant or trial, rape women, and extort young male Nigerians for driving exotic vehicles and using laptops and iPhones . Nigerians have shared both stories and video evidence of how officers of SARS engaged in kidnapping , murder, theft, rape, torture,
unlawful arrests , humiliation, unlawful detention ,
extrajudicial killings and extortion of Nigerian citizens. A large section of the victims of the abuses of SARS have been young male Nigerians.

This is the first time in Nigeria that people speak up and took to the street, defied the curfew by the government and demand for their right and benefits from government. It create tensions and bring back the socio-economic activities of the nations.
