Assalam O Alaikum.

Hello my steemit friends i hope you are all doing great. Today i am excited to participate in the SLC22-W1 Contest and share my thoughts on the topic "Basic Notions of Law." As a student i find this topic very interesting because understanding law is essential for building a fair and just society. In this post i will discuss what law is provide examples of Objective and Subjective Law analyze two practical cases and explain the importance of Comparative Law in simple terms. Let’s begin!

What is Law?

Law is a set of rules created by the governments or society to maintained order protects people’s rights and ensures justice. It tells us what is allowed and what is not in our actions and behaviors. Laws are enforced by authorities and breakings them can result in punishments like fines or imprisonments. For example traffic laws ensure safe driving and criminal laws protect people from harm.

Examples of Objective and Subjective Law.

Objective Law: These are rules that apply to everyone equally.

Traffic signals: All drivers must follow traffic lights.

Tax payment: Every citizen must pay taxes based on their income.

Subjective Law: These laws depend on individual rights or duties.

Right to vote: Every eligibles citizen has the rights to participated in elections.

Right to freedom of speech: Everyone has the rights to express their opinions.

Practical Case Analysis.

A citizen driving a vehicle breaks a traffic light but claims he did so to rush his sick child to the hospital.

Objective Law: The rule requiring drivers to stop at traffic lights applies to everyone. The driver violated this law.

Subjective Law: The driver’s explanation about saving his child shows his individual right to protect his family. The law may consider his situation based on his subjective circumstances.

Comparison Between Law and Norm.

Law: A law is a legal rule created by the government and breaking it leads to punishments. For example driving without a license is illegal.

Norm: A norm is a social rule that is not enforced by the government but by society or groups. For example saying “thank you” is a norm of politeness.

Practical Case Analysis.

Mr. Juan Perez has not paid rent for three months and he also keeps four dogs in his apartment violating the building’s rules.

Violating a Law: Not paying rent for three months is a breach of the rental contract which is legally binding.

Violating a Norm: Keeping four dogs in an apartment breaks the building’s rules of coexistence which is a social norm not a law.

Importance of Comparative Law

Comparative Laws is the study of different legal systems arounds the world it helps us understands how other countries solve legal problems and develop better laws for our own country. For example learning about traffic laws in other countries can inspire changes to improve road safety in our country.

For me Comparative Law is important because it promotes mutual understanding and helps create laws that are fair and modern. It also strengthens international relations by showing respect for other legal systems.

Understanding the basic notions of law is essential for creating a peaceful society. Laws ensure fairness and protect everyone’s rights while norms guide our social behavior. By comparing legal systems through Comparative Law we can improve our own laws and contribute to global harmony. I hope this post gives you a clear understanding of these concepts. Thank you for reading and i look forward to your feedback!
