Hi Art Lovers, 14 February Valentine's Day is with us, again. It may sound good to be a day for love, or it may be thought of as an imposition of the capitalist system. It's relative in terms of how you look at the day or what you do on this day. Special days can turn into a great opportunity to have fun, or they can turn into a painful nightmare. So I think making any sense of days can involve risk.
In order to have a good day, we must be able to stay away from obligations, pressure and stress. I think if there are these negative feelings, it means that something is going wrong. I believe celebrations can be magnificent when we act naturally and sincerely.

The content I'm considering for today will not be a romantic love story with a happy ending. Actually, I'm going to talk about art news that will be about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
Frida and Diego had a great love that included passion, admiration, pain, longing, waiting, betrayal. It would be unfair to describe Frida only with her love. Because she was the woman of pain, love, revolution and paintings.
She is a painter who affected me a lot with her paintings. Her paintings contain a lot of emotion. The suffering, disappointment, love and more in her paintings are very real and striking. I admire these strong highlights. As she said "They thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn't. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality."
Since I will only tell you about this painting in this post, I will not talk about her other aspects and life. The name of her painting is "Diego and I". In this painting, Frida told the great suffering she felt because of Diego. At that time, Diego had an affair with Frida's friend. This situation hurt her a lot and she suffered a lot.
In this painting, she draws herself with tears in her eyes and her hair almost as if it is suffocating her. On her forehead, she painted Diego, whose reason her problem that she couldn't get out of her mind. Diego has the third eye on his forehead. This eye implies Diego's mental and visual keenness. Another detail is that only Frida's eyes meet us from the 5 eyes in the painting.
Mexican artist Frida painted her intensely emotional self-portrait in 1949. This painting was sold at a record price in November 2021. It sold for $34.9 million, making it the most expensive Latin American artist work. Her painting was sold by the founder of an art museum in Argentina. Interestingly, the most expensive work before this painting belonged to her husband Diego. All of Frida's true pain, her wonderful art, her deep thoughts have always been invaluable and they will continue to be.
Love can be both the best thing and the worst thing. Love can be both the greatest happiness and the greatest suffering!

Good evening my friend @serap I enjoyed reading your article and it makes total sense posting it on Valentine's Day. I have heard about this painting and I am familiar with her art. A few of Frida Kahlo's paintings have come up in various pub quiz picture rounds here so we named her, the artist who painted them. Thank you also for the film recommendation.
