NOBEL FOR STEPHEN

Hello fellow steemers!

Autumn in Ibiza is the best time to go for walks in the forest and find, first figs and then mushrooms.

Sant Miquel, Sant Mateu... I love the island when the summer is over and the heat is not so hot to go out in the countryside.

Our intention was to find figs but we also found this sculpture. A little mermaid on the door of an old house.

I found it very curious, a bit creepy too. Because it reminds me of cemeteries. And also reminds me one of my favourite writers, Stephen King, who has described horror so well in so many works...

By the way, yesterday they gave the Nobel Prize for literature and at this rate they will give it to him posthumously...

Books like It, Shining, (the wonderful) Animal Cemetery, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Death Row, on which the brilliant film The Green Mile was based, Misery, Carrie, Christine, etc., etc., infinite etc show his brilliant career.

In my opinion, he more than deserves the Nobel Prize. Is popularity at odds with quality for the jury?

Doesn't the author need more popularity and that's why they don't give it to him?

What do you think about this steemers?

I leave you a sample of the photos in the forest.

Beautiful statue, I loved it.
I believe that behind the Nobel Prize there is a political criterion, especially in the case of literature and peace.

Absolutely @jorgevandeperre. Thanks for your comment.

Even if I don't like all his books equally, Stephen King is undoubtedly a great writer. He has won several awards for his work - the World Fantasy Award, the Bram Stoker Award several times, the Golden Pen Award, the Edgar Allan Poe Award, and many more - and a huge loyal readership.

He will probably not win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The criteria for the award state that a potential recipient must have "produced the most excellent work in an idealistic direction". In his will, Nobel expressly obliged the jury deciding on the award to use the idealism of the author or his work as a yardstick. And there is little room for interpretation in Stephen King's work. He entertains fantastically, he writes in a pleasing style. And that's it...

Thank you for commenting, according to other sources, the winning author has to combine Excellence, Experience and Talent, qualities that I think King has in abundance. I imagine that, depending on the source, there will be different criteria. I have the feeling that awarding Best Sellers is not in the jury's line.

Thank you very much for your opinion @weisser-rabe

I love the books of Stephen King, they are so cool, there is everything story, psychology, our inner fear, human behavior. There is everything that any of us can relate with ourselves. He is brilliant!

I also love this mermaid, looks so beautiful, it is a pity that there is no water around.

Yes, it would look great in a fountain...it's disturbing to see it out of place. If you haven't read Stephen King's Pets Cemetery I recommend it.
Thanks for comment @stef1.
