Once again, it's been a while since I've posted anything - since I've got a couple of hours spare whilst the-toddler naps before school pick up time, I thought I'd pop in and share a little update.

The End of a Project
It's been nearly 2 months since I shared the news about a New Client in which I wrote:
Whilst I'm not sure I'll be able to work with the old man, primarily due to him not having a clue about web development but being responsible for their IT
It turns out that I can't work with the old man.
Having done my 1 day per week for a couple of months, the old man (who doesn't want to spend all of his time working - he's retired after all) also doesn't want anybody else doing work for the company. He seems to think that if he does everything himself (not realising that his level of competence is extremely low), then he'll save the company money.
Some details... at the end of my first month, the work that I was doing got derailed. The company decided that creating a new product (online) was their priority. Having helped other companies deliver new digital products and knowing that they were inexperienced in this field, I pulled a proposal together. A light touch (from me) version which required 2-3 days effort and a full-on "me-do-everything" proposal which came out at about 25 days.
Part of the thinking was to wake them up to the reality that if you want to deliver a high-quality product to market, it's going to require some effort in planning everything about it - the content required, how the content will flow, user interactions, etc. You can't just let some clown build it without planning it first.
It was a good proposal - simple to understand and detailed enough to know what's required at each project stage... most importantly, how much effort should go into each stage. At a push, I could go from working 1 day per week for them up to 3 days...
They opted for...
The old man saying:
I don't understand what the-gorilla's going to do
So instead of me guiding them with the light touch - the old man's going to do everything himself. I wonder if they'll tell him that he's only got himself to blame when his complaints about doing too much work in his retirement get louder!
My friend (their Head of Marketing) is also in despair as he's also been side-lined - the old man is literally going to do it all by himself. So fortunately, my relationship with my friend is still good and he'll find a way of getting me to do more at some point in the future. For now though, I'm benched.
More Time for Steemit?
This will give me a bit more free time and whilst I've been too busy to share much, I've been keeping tabs on some of the goings-on.
There's been a bit of talk recently about downvotes - not just on Steemit but also on Hive. One of the beautiful things about Steemit is that there isn't the proliferation of senseless downvotes that plagues Hive. Whilst there's room for Steemit to use downvotes more to deter scammers, we don't have the morons floating around downvoting people because their post has received too many auto-votes.
Whilst the Hive Hard Fork was painful for all involved, the toxicity, anger and hatred "left" on the day of the split giving Steemit the opportunity to be a place of peace. When scammers (not @weisser-rabe but the user she's talking about) use their accumulated power to downvote innocent victims, it marks a time for us to come together and support those affected - which is exactly what we've seen in response to @frafiomatale's post.
We've attracted a lot of good, kind hearted people to Steemit and it's up to us to keep them here πͺ
I've rambled on enough for the time being - drop me a line to share some peace and love
Think what you want about me, but it's great that you got kicked out of the project :-) Now maybe we'll see more of you here.

It's disappointing because money's getting tight (we remortgage at the end of the year and our interest rate's increasing by about 4% which means that our mortgage will increase by over 50%!!) I also quite enjoyed the work... it's just a shame one "senior" person thinks they know best and can do it all by themselves.
I wouldn't be surprised if their new product is a complete failure and they'll have no idea why!
The big question is... will I be able to pick up Zombie Apocalypse again and work out what my code's doing π

This is a very familiar situation for the company I work for.
I think with your abilities you need to come up with some kind of service for STEEM and earn from commissions :) Easy to say :)
Unfortunately, the zombies beat me up so much that I'm hanging on by a thread :)

Ha ha, yes. Very easy to say! I need to think about what I should do with myself. It was good to do client work and it's made me realise that "my business" doesn't have its own website. Much to think about!
Those mean zombies.

Ha ha! Your player only starves if it's your turn to move... if the game is being slow, then you are left in a tranquil state of peace and harmony π

How cool that you like to spend more time here again! How stupid that it has to be under such circumstances... Old men as autocrats are bad.

There was something "off" about him when we first met, I wasn't sure what it was at the time but I just got a bad feeling.
It turns out, that he's got quite the ego that needs stroking (he needs everybody to know that he's a company Director (not a retired busy-body))... he's also been their only IT for 5 years which means that he's never been challenged by anybody who actually knows what they're doing.
It's clear to me that he's holding the company back from achieving more but since it's the owner's father, it's not a message anybody's ever going to deliver!

The triumph of the clown over the gorilla can only be short-lived :-))
Nice to have you back here. Of course, it's not so nice that you're immediately confronted with such stuff.
Since the main responsible user writes neither posts nor comments, "measures" will not really help. Unless you find other scammers related to him....

It's disappointing but I'm grateful to have started the project, gained some confidence in what I can do and earned a little bit of money doing work that I enjoyed.
Of which there are many π I think that it's finally time for him to meet his fate

I remember reading that... the "hiding" of posts is interesting - do you have any idea how he does that?
