I think this might be my favourite piece yet. I didn’t think that much of it when I started but then felt drawn to gold leaf and in person the energy is so special. In the shamanic journey I did it just shone at me and I was shown so much about alchemical marriage.

The caduceus is the staff carried by Hermes in Greek mythology, it is a short gold staff entwined by two serpents. The caduceus was the basis for the astrological symbol of the planet Mercury and was often seen to be a messenger of the Gods. It is said 'the wand would wake the sleeping and send the awake to sleep. If applied to the dying, their death was gentle; if applied to the dead, they returned to life.'

Symbolically we can see it as the symbol of the kundalini rising and how once the snakes begin to move within us they can wake us up and lead us to immortality and to know ourselves as gods. The rod represents the ida and pingala ( our duality ) entwining up the sushumna as pictured in this diagram.
