There was this young girl named Ada who lived in Lagos state, Nigeria. Her dream was to become a successful fashion designer. At the age of five Ada was already drawing and sketching very beautiful dresses, her mom was really proud of the designs she drew as she hasn't seen such design anywhere. She succeeded at becoming a fashion designer but her success did not come easy.

After finishing secondary school, Ada could go to any fashion school as her family weren't financially buoyant and she did so many odd jobs to support her parents. Despite these challenges, Ada never gave up on her dream. She saved every naira she could and spent her free time learning about fashion design online and practicing her sewing skills using her friends phone and machine.
One day, the elders in the community decided to help the youth learn an entrepreneurial skill and they decided that the best entrepreneurial skill then was fashion designing and invited a fashion designer that would teach them. Ada heard of this and was very happy. It was free ofcourse and that made Ada to register. The workshop was intense, but Ada didn't relent, she learnt everything that she could. She learned new techniques and met other good fashion designers who encouraged her.
Even as she was learning, she kept working and saving up because she knew that after the workshop she would need equipments to start her own. After the workshop, Ada decided to start her own small fashion business from home. She used her savings to buy fabric and a second-hand sewing machine. Ada began by making dresses for friends and neighbors. Her designs were unique and well-made, and soon word began to spread.
Sometimes, Ada found it difficult to get customers, there were also moments she doubted herself but she didn't give up, she kept pushing forward determined to succeed. Along the line she got a phone as she needed to showcase her work. She used social media to showcase her work, and gradually, her online presence grew.
One day a local boutique saw her designs online and reached out to her, and offered to feature her dresses in her boutique. This was a turning point for Ada as her dresses sold out immediately.
With the money she earned, Ada expanded her business. She rented a small shop and hired a few apprentices. Her brand continued to grow, and she began receiving orders from across Nigeria. She was really proud of herself and so were her parents.
Her hard work and perseverance paid off. She became a well-known name in the Nigerian fashion industry. Looking back, she felt proud of her journey. Her story became an inspiration to many young people in her community. She often shared her experiences, encouraging others to follow their dreams no matter the challenges.
Ada's success was not just about fame or money. It was about fulfilling her passion and proving to herself that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.
This story kept me hinged until the end!
I have met many Ada's in my life (Metaphor), but few have them the dedication and preservance to hold up till the end. Many give up after a few failures and fail to recognize their potential and the fact that hard work doesn't come easy to anyone. You have to give your all, many a times, people judge you as well but as long as you believe in yourself, there is nothing that can stop you from becoming successful.
I love how the story doesn't mention of fame and money as success but the fact the staying true to your passion until the end is what made her successful.
Thank you for this beautiful story!
