The Hospital de la Santa Cruz y de San Pablo (of st. Cross and St. Paul) is, after more than six centuries in operation, the oldest hospital in Spain. It is located on the edge of Barcelona's Eixample district, a short distance from the well-known Sagrada Familia, the new cathedral of Barcelona. It is one of the masterpieces of Catalan modernism, the architectural style for which the genius Gaudí is known, but he is not the only architect of this style and period. There were others as good as him, among them Lluís Domenech i Montaner, author of the remodelling project of the aforementioned hospital at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the monumental part of the hospital is no longer used as a health facility and houses the offices of the entire institution.
As personal note, when I was in the university, I lived just 100 mt. far from the hospital.
In the pictures we may see the main entrance and some architectural details of it like the windows, the façade and the clock tower.
