"Ordinary people make mistakes about physical forms since beginningless times, and therefore forms seem to be separate from the mind and alien to it, just like physical forms that appear in dreams. At the ultimate level, physical forms and the other phenomena are nothing other than the aspects of the mind.

The essence or void designates an absence of substantial separation between the subjective mind and the object perceived by said mind. It is so because when material things are broken into small particles and identity is investigated. This view of the Chittamatra or school of the one mind is very similar to the affirmations of the Yogacara madhyamika sutantrusted by the later madhyamika schools. "

The following lines present the Madhyamika's point of view:

"In the ultimate sense, the mind cannot be real either. How can the mind, which only apprehends the deceptive nature of physical forms and other phenomena, and which appears under the most varied aspects, could it be real? Phenomena are deceptive, but mind does not exist separately from physical forms and everything else, which are illusory, so it is illusory too.Physical forms and other phenomena have varied aspects and their identity is neither one nor multiple. It is the same with the mind, which is not different from them: their identity is neither one nor multiple. Therefore, by its nature, the mind is like an illusion "
