Hello bookworms,

I was reading a very interesting book two weeks ago. As I was not well I couldn’t write on that. Today I’m going to review about the book The Book Thief which was written by Markus Zusak. This book is written based on some historical incidents. The book was translated to many languages and in 2013 the story was screened.

Review on the story

source

The story is written surrounding German Nazis. Death is the narrator of the story. Death is also given a live life in the story. Liesel is a young girl whose parents died and she was adopted by Hans and Rosa Hubermann. While she was living there she was trying to settle to that society. Rudy was her friend at that time. It was the time of Nazis. The people were affected by Nazi regime too. Hans is very close to Liesel. He taught Liesel to read books and write. Hubermann parents introduced a boy called “Max” who was given shelter by Hans from the Nazi party. Liesel practiced reading writing skills. Not only she read books which were trying to destroy by Nazis but also she wrote stories including her own story by showing her language power to others.

In the book it says about the way Liesel built up relationships with people to read books. The way she is keen on reading and writing is interestingly expressed in the book. She tends to seal books from well-known libraries as she wanted to read and write.

One day when Liesel was walking on the street she saw Max was walking among a set of prisoners. Without listening to solder’s orders, she wanted to walk with Max. She was whipped as a punishment for that.

When Hans returned home one day, He saw that Liesel’s friends, family and neighbors were killed by a bomb attack by Nazis. Liesel was the only survivor. She has lost her friend Rudy too.

Later Liesel started working in a tailor shop owned by Rudy. The story tells about a romantic meet between Max and Liesel. She lived happily with many friends and neighbors. She died after many years and becoming old.

The character of Liesel is expressed as a bookworm who in keen on writing and reading to build up her personality and morality. I remembered the bookworms in the community when I was reading this book.

Final Words

There can be many Liesels in the society who loves reading and writing. The theme of love and morality are common human characteristics developed within human beings in the society.

I would like to recommend this book to read for all my fellow bookworms. You can watch the movie unless you find the book to read.
