Doctor of medical laboratory scientist as my dream job

When I was young, I have always wanted to be a pilot, actually, most kids wanted same. I recall times where I said I’ll become a bank manager because I believed cash will flow in easily, lol. When I was in JHS 3, my science teacher asked me, Basheeru, what do you want to be in future? I said, “i want to be a nurse”. Right now, things have changed. My dream job is to become a Doctor of medical laboratory scientist.

A doctor of medical laboratory scientist is someone who is specialized and trained to perform clinical diagnosis and investigations on patients. They run tests on blood, treat, manage and as well as help prevent diseases. This group of professionals help eradicate the most complex of diseases, as we all know, the ebola virus has a cure now and the role of the medical laboratory scientist was vital.

What fascinates me the most about this profession is the diagnosis aspect. I am someone who loves science a lot and I believe in being a part of the solution. I sometimes imagine myself performing tests on patients, can’t wait to get there. Being able to tell the cause of infection, is the part that interest me a lot. Whenever we having histology, which is the microscopic study of tissues and their structure, I really get excited. You get to use the microscope, you’re provided with a tissue section and you study it and then report any abnormalities, especially the presence of pathogens. These are the bases of diagnoses.
I hope and pray this dream oneday becomes a reality.

The profession makes me happy and i pray we all achieve our dreams.
