Many young girls that don't know how to calculate their ovulation period are young mothers today, and even the married ones that refuse to do family planning and don't know their safe period are mothers of 15. Am I exaggerating?
Well, if we are not living under the rock, we might have seen young girls with big bellies (not that they overeat, it's as a result of spermatozoa fertilizing the egg they release every month). Also, we've seen families with numerous siblings all delivered by a woman. (Nothing is new under the sun) but hey! sex education can reduce unwanted pregnancy and overpopulation.
Our body system can be explained through several means like Biology, chemistry, physics, and so on. The biological aspects explain the ovulation, menstruation, and safe period of a woman.
Every woman has a date. any day your menstruation begins is the beginning of your cycle. For instance, if Ella starts her menstruation today, she should start counting till the day the next period would start. The days counted is her cycle.
Mostly, women have 28 days cycle. Some have 30 or 31. In fact, some menstruate twice a month. women's cycle differs so we can't calculate them the same way. But in this article, I will be using 28 days cycle to explain how to calculate three things
- Menstruation period
- Ovulation period (unsafe period)
- Safe period
If a woman/girl/lady has sex, two things are involved if the man ejaculates. It's either the sperm swims into the woman's body and serves as a nutrient or meets eggs on its way and fertilizes it.
The safe period is when the sperm rolls freely without obstacle (which means the egg has not formed)
The ovulation period is when the egg is released and if Mr. Sperm escape from the warehouse. I bet it with you, even the legend goalkeeper like Buffon cannot catch the ball. It's a goal.
This means there would be fertilization, and when the sperm fertilizes the egg, a baby would form.
To calculate your safe and unsafe period, you need to know your cycle and don't forget that your cycle is the interval between the day of your period and the next. (count the days)
Assuming my cycle is 28 days. (Oh! not me) I mean Alice. If she starts her period on the 2nd of March, that 2nd would be her day 1, so she starts counting from there. If it starts on the 4th, that would also be her day one. So the day it starts doesn't matter. Getting the cycle is much more important.
Counting from the 2nd of march using 28 days cycle
If Alice starts her period on the 2nd of march, it means she will start another one on the 29th of march. So to calculate the safe and unsafe period for 28 days cycle, Alice would have to divide 28 by 2 which would be 14. That 14th of march is regarded as the ovulation period (the chance of getting pregnant is high)
In the image above, we can see that half of the 28 days fall on the 15th of march. That is the main ovulation period. 3 days before and after the ovulation period is not a safe time to have sex if you don't want to get pregnant. From the image, the possibility of getting pregnant between the 12th and 18th of march is high, but it's higher on the main ovulation date which is the 15th of march.
Apart from these dates mentioned the probability of getting pregnant on other dates is low, and those are the safe periods.
Note that you must know how to notice your cycle before you can calculate your ovulation and safe periods. Just mark it in your calendar. If you calculate it well, chances are you would play safe if you want to and vice versa
