We have to know that it is not easy to attain a certain age these days with these numerous illnesses and diseases in our atmosphere of late. Back in the days, it was common to see people grow and attain triple digits, surpassing the 100 year mark but where are these individuals of late.
Our mentality of knowing it all and trying everything while we are young is exactly what is killing us today. If you are very lucky, you might not be affected by any of these. But the unlucky ones will sure have a feel of what I am talking about.
All it takes to cause you to decline in health is one wrong move. And at times, it only takes a little bit of elderly guidance to be on the right track.
The aged in our life know so much that we are not aware of. They have seen some good, bad and even worst times way before we were born.
When I was a little child, I came to hear about some drought that happened in the 90's so I knew that my parents were prepared to face something like that in case it happened again.
I can say I have also seen the effects of Ebola and what it did to parts of Africa. This is something I can also share with my kids including the impacts of Covid-19.
Experience, they say, is the best teacher. And according to our cultural teachings, we must listen to elderly advice if we want to live long.
I strongly suggest we do not copy other cultures blindly and end up not losing out in a lot.
At times it is very pathetic to see young ones acting strangely towards the elderly people. Without them , some of the things you mentioned,we would not have gotten the opportunity to hear them. Old age is a blessing. We all pray we have good ages in strength and wisdom. We have to respect them in order to get there.
