Greetings comrades! It's another blissful Thursday at Nsuta. The is cool and busy as I had ever reported that, Thursdays have been a Market day.
But today happens to be a special day for all teachers in Sekyere Central District to converge at the Pentecost Central premises at Nsuta. The call for teachers is about workshop on how to build points for portfolio for Yearly renewal of Teachers License
The start of the workshop was scheduled at 10 am prompt. This means school session and instructions would be closed at this time. At school in the morning, we used that 2 hours interval for independent day 6th match rehearsals. The time is very closed and we haven't began any rehearsal. I led the students to the field while all teachers also joined to coach those students who take part in the match pass especially how to stretch the hands, mark time and uniformly match. It was so beautiful 🤗 to see most teachers on the field helping in many ways. I also thank all the Interns who were present.
School was then closed down at exactly 10 am. We departed to Pentecost Central District chapel to join the workshop. When we arrived they were now setting the projector. Owusu and I rushed to town to get some Awaakye to fill our berry since were very hungry. We bought the Awaakye, salads🥗 and two boiled eggs. The whole food cost Gh¢ 10.00. there were no dinner table but we found one and we squeezed ours and perch to eat. The food was really delicious.
The start of the NTC program
The program began with the Introduction of what National Teachers Council is about and why it has come to stay with teachers. Now the policy states that every teacher should be licensed this to help teacher get the requisite skills and experiences in the teacher profession. At first it was considered to be a job in the sense that every qualification was able to apply. But with the on set of NTC one has to be licensed before he/she qualifies to become a teacher. It's also based on the points building to enrich ones portfolio.
The Phase I I of the workshop
The face two of the workshop was how teachers can build enough points to get the required percentage (%) for one to be able to renew his or her license every year. Some of the important points teacher can build is attending workshops and attaining certificates. This is very vital, so the facilitators stressed on that point. We can also organise in - service training for teachers where evidence of pictures can be shown at the NTC Teachers portal. To be trusted, should take pictures of every Activities we engage ourselves as far as it concerns with instructions and teacher - learner relationship. Headteachers were also advised to log issues that they would not get evidence with the date and time such events take place.
Teachers made sure to upload pictures on the gallery to download to the NTC Portal. We really enjoyed the workshop. Some snacks and water were given to us to show appreciation of attending such a Workshop. What most teachers complained about was the collection of Gh¢ 65 from every teacher. We thought it could have been done free of charge as previously teachers are even given some tokens for their t & t for such a meeting. But, today, the system has changed where teachers have to pay for the services they render for Government and the entire Community. The explanation given from the facilitator was that, the National Development allowance which have been given yearly should be reserved for National Teachers Council Workshop.
I arrived home to relax when it was exactly 2:45 pm. Thanks for your attention and Support!
