OHA SOUP (How I cook Oha Soup)

in hive-188403 •  3 years ago

Oha Soup is an eastern soup eaten mostly by easterners in Nigeria. it's cooked the same way with bitter leaf soup just that the leaves are different. when cutting Oha leaf you shred it with your hand not knife it's been said that if you use knife the soup would go black, though I haven't tried it.
Oha leaf is very nutrious and helps prevents diabetes, cancer to mentioned a few.

so here is how I prepare my Oha Soup

ingredients
oha leaves
uziza
cocoyam
meat/shaki/dryfish/stockfish/ponmo
palmoil
crayfish
ogiri
yellow pepper/red pepper

I seasoned my meat with seasoning cubes (knorr) and salt in one pot

in another pot I cooked the cocoyam without peeling it, when it was cooked/soft I peeled off the back and pounded it.

after the meat cooked and was soft I put in the ogiri, then pepper crayfish and a little bit of palm oil, I allowed it to cook a bit.

then I put in the cocoyam, I added it in bits and allowed it to melt into the liquid

after that I checked for the consistency to make sure it's not too thick or too watery.

when I was ok with the consistency I added in the vegetable that's the oha and uziza leaf.
