Introduction

Hey 👋 guys

I greet y'all, Trusting God you are a doing great 😃. Today, I am so happy to still be participating for 2nd time in a contest under this community. The Contest is all about Our Holiday Plans. It's a wandeful contest which has triggered me to be happy participating in it because of my high plans to visit the village. So without waisting time,

My entry go thus:;

For anybody that knows me knows how much I oftenly talk about my village because of the love i have for that place. I come from "KOM" precisely in "Fundong" which is a subdivision in BOYO division. BOYO division is found in the NorthWest Region Of Cameroon. In Fundong, I live in a small quarta called "Meli". That was where I was delivered and raised up before me travelling to Bamenda for studies since when I was a child till present date

IMG-20220507-WA0003.jpg
This is where I was raised up

It's really been long I have gone home and this is because of the escalation of this present ongoing war that have ravage the entire Northwest and Southwest regions which also happens to be The English Speaking regions in Cameroon. Ever since this Crises started in 2016, I have never gone home to where I was delivered and raised up. My last visit home was in that same year 2016 When I lost my mom.

After giving her my last respect, it was unfortunate this ongoing war escalated that same year which caused me never to go to the village till today. Why wasn't I going to the village? I was not going to the village because of fears as this Ambazonia Fighter's always stand at the road to collect money from the taxi/bus/passengers and sometimes even kidnap people for ransom. The worst thing is that my village, KOM have been one of the most affected villages in the Northwest region since this war began and many have lost their lives.

So this are all the factors that hindered me not go and visit my people in the village all this time. Hopefully, the war is gradually diminishing . So I have high ambitions of going to the village this summer since it's believe that the Ambazonia Fighter's no longer stand at the road to torment or collect money from passengers or drivers because the military is everywhere now to protect us civilians

Before this crises escalated, I oftenly go to the village every summer so as to help my grandma harvest corn, beans, cocoyams, cassava and sweet potato since this are the main cash crops which is being cultivated in KOM land most yes Corn, this particular crop is cultivated every season. It is highly cultivated by the natives of KOM because it's believe our tradition food is Fufu-corn which is being produce from this corn.

KOM is also a civilized land which is well developed. There is a ring road from Kom to Bamenda which has been existing for more than 62years.

My Invitation

The road from Fundong to Bamenda is about 60Km which is just about 1:45min when using a bus, taxi or bike.

MY HOLIDAY PLANS

My plans to visit my home town is very simple, I have been traveling to different places here in Cameroon and I haven't gone home for long, so I planned to visit home this summer since this Crises has now reduced and the military is now protecting civilians in village. This is why I planned to visit it. I haven't booked for my travel yet. This is because we always booked our tickets only on the day we are to travelled.

At first, Normal transport cost 1000 CFC ( approaximatly 4 STEEM) From Bamenda to KOM but it's quite unfortunate this has changed due to this crises because at this present moment, from Bamenda to KOM is 5,000 FCFA (approaximatly 20 STEEM).

WHY I WANT TO GO TO KOM

I'm anxious planning to visit my village because it's really been long without me going to my village. I also miss alot of people that I left them on the village. I lastly saw my grand mom 1year ago when she came to visit us in Bamenda. With my precious grandma being the most important person in my life, I am anxiously hoping and praying to pay her a visit in the village

My grandma lives alone, when growing up, i oftenly visit her on holidays so as to be helping her out in the farm, taking care of her goats, fowls and pigs. So I have missed helping her out in this areas since i couldn't go to the village all this while

IMG-20220507-WA0005.jpg
this is my home

I also miss eating her food and how she always take good care of me when ever I'm around her, so I want to go down to the village so that I can recieve this treatment from my granny and also take the opportunity to eat her food again.

I want to also go down the village so that I could help her out in harvesting corn. For long now, I always send her money to pay people so that she won't labour too much. This time around, I want use this opportunity and spent time with my grand ma so that I can offer her my help physical

I also misses her stories and folktales which she always narrates to me when I was still growing up... Do not mind me weeeeh, when ever I'm besides my grandma, I am behaving just like a newborn baby because of the pampers my grandma always pampers me😂😂. So I miss all this moments and wish to experience this moments again when I pay my brand ma a visit.

There is also a river in my village known as "river Koinii but we also call it "drúä fiúf", this is in our dialet which is translated as "wind river" because of the ancient history of this river.

Screenshot_20220507-090451.jpg
"drúä fiúf"

This bridge separates Fundong and Alim(also a small quarta in Fundong) . According to history, Alim was formally Fundong, when this "drúä fiúf" came and separated it, it was now called "Alim". Fundong has so many quarters such as Meli, mutang, Alim, meh, ngunem, isebal, Atoini, fom and so many others.

google map

I wish to to go and explore most of this areas because I have a lots of friends there. We oftenly discuss only via our mobile phones,. There is even an upcoming football tornament during the summer holidays which the Mayo of BOYO will organize. I'm a footballer and most of my friends wants me to go down and play. So it will be a joy to go down and join my friends so that we could play this competition together

Conclusion

Thanks for your time everyone, i can't go without inviting this Steemians, @tangwe-rene, @tenguhatanga, @wyzcekunited, @ngwerast, @monjuapollonia and @echamroland to come and participate in this amazing contest
