Good day empowered women in this community and to our supportive male participants.

It is a good day for me to join this steemit engagement contest 4 because recently, I just finished my class demonstration observation. I wanna share my experience about it and how I feel while doing this activity. By the way, let me tell you about this activity first as part of my continuing professional growth.

I am working in a public school in our country. There are 10 months every school year, and is divided into 4 quarters. Every quarter, we are required to be assessed by a Master Teacher for us to be evaluated on how we teach our pupils. Through this observation also we are getting professional help from the observer on how we will be improved in teaching. Everyday, we are preparing a lesson plan in each subject attainable in a day. The observer will check if we follow the objectives we plan and how we follow the process. She will also observe if the activities given were fit to the pupils needs and interest.

The teacher will choose the subject to be observed and the time of the observation and informed the Master Teacher ahead of time. In my part, I will orient the pupils first what will happen so that they will be informed that we are under observation. During the class demonstration, the observer will not intervene the discussion but will wait for the end of the subject. We will be having a professional talk in her office during free time or after the class.

But this school year, we are one of the affected in the existence of COVID-19, and education system undergone new normal mode of teaching delivery. Since we are dealing printed modular learning, there are no pupils inside the school premises. What we did this year is we still have a class demonstration but with the presence of all the grade level teachers and the Master Teacher.

Classroom demonstration observation is a tool for the development of a teacher so that she will be assessed how far she improved in the profession and if there's any thing to be improved. The teacher will receive constructive criticisms or commendments, both are helpful in the professional development of a teacher. She will be given a rating sheet and will be recorded and kept in an individual school year portfolio.

At the end of the school year, the teachers will receive a Performance Based Bonus depending on the rating they received from the classroom observation provided that there are Mode of Verifications presented in every portfolio. In my part, I always receive 50% of the monthly salary every release of the Performance Based Bonus (PBB). I belive this is one of the motivation for the teachers to work harder in our job.

Every profession needs to continue professional growth because learning doesn't stop in graduation or any period, but learning happens everyday. I belive that learning starts from the time of conception and it continues as what we learn everyday.
