Kegel Exercise is the same thing as Pelvic floor exercise and it is one of the best exercise health experts recommend for women. My fellow women in this great community @steemwomensclub I will be sharing the benefits of Kegel Exercise and how it should be done in this blog post, I'll be glad if you find it helpful.

What is Kegel or Pelvic floor Exercise?

Kegel Exercises is a set of exercises performed by a woman to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, involving repetitions of both sustained and rapid voluntary contractions of the muscles, and used to treat urinary incontinence and improve sexual function in particular.

When you're sitting on the toilet, you use your pelvic floor muscles to stop the flow of urine in the middle of it. Strengthening these muscles can help you avoid urine leakage, pass gas or poop accidentally, and even improve your orgasm.

Keeping these muscles in good shape prevents your uterus, bladder, and bowel from sagging into your vaginal opening. Pelvic organ prolapse is the medical term for this condition.

How To Find Your Pelvic Floor Muscles

Your pelvic floor muscles are a group of muscles that run from your pubic bone in the front of your body to your tailbone (end of your spine) in the back, forming a small'sling or hammock'.

It's easy to locate your pelvic floor muscles. When you're on the toilet, try to stop the flow of your urine. Do this only until you get a sense of how it feels do not make it a habit. You can also put your finger in your vaginal canal and squeeze the muscles around it. You should feel a squeezing sensation around your finger. When you try these activities, the muscles that feel like they're 'lifting' inside of you are the same ones that Kegel exercises strengthen.

How To Do Kegel Exercise

  • You can lie flat on mat
  • Your palms placed on the mat
  • Lifting your butt and holding your pelvic floor muscles,
  • then relaxing them, is how Kegel exercises are performed.
    Begin by performing a small number of exercises such as
  • lifts/squeezes, holds, and relaxes over a short period of time, then gradually increase the length of time and the number of exercises you perform in each'session'.
    At least two sets of the exercises should be performed every day.

Positions for Kegel Exercise

Kegel exercises can be performed in a variety of positions. Sitting upright on an exercise ball is a popular position. This can be done with or without the use of a towel roll. Other common positions include lying on your stomach, lying on your side, and lying on your back.

Oh may! Those exercises looks so easy but how I will get up from the floor I don't know. :-) Age is catching up with me.
