I am aware that big businesses understand the relevance of record keeping hence the idea behind regular company auditing. Small businesses however feel nonchalant about record keeping and this may be either as a result of ignorance or just basically a nonchalant attitude.
I currently own a small business and at some point, I had to employ someone to help me manage the affairs of the business, I am an extremely simple minded person and I have a weakness of trusting people too fast, I trusted the young lady to effectively handle the business and once again, I was shown that, emotions alone is not enough to handle a business efficiently.
Thankfully, I take stock of available goods at the end of the month and that was how I figured out that a large portion of item went missen from the store, I found out that the young lady has regularly been taking out of the store consistently and i was able to make amends as fast as possible.
Imagine what would have happened if I wasn't taking regular record, I would not have noticed that my stocks were declining until it gets to a point where things eventually gets out of hand completely.
Record keeping in a business also helps a business monitor growth and increase, the more growth the business can discover, the more their chances of development is made possible.
