INTRODUCTION

Good day my dear fellow women, it's me @patience90 and I brought you my recipe for fresh Okra with Ugwu leaves and Ogbono Soup.
Sit and relax while I take you to my kitchen.

INGREDIENTS

PREPARATION

Washed my okra with salt and slice it.

Then I pounded it in the mortar

I also washed my Ugwu leaves with water and salt then sliced itIMG_20210825_065600.jpg
IMG_20210819_084645.jpgI washed my fresh fish, added 3 cubes of seasoning, and parboiled it on the fire and then kept it aside

Set my dried pot on the fire, added palm oil and allowed to heatIMG_20210819_085825.jpg

IMG_20210819_090055.jpgI allowed for 2 minutes then I added water, onion, dawadawa, pepper and seasoning cubesIMG_20210819_090224.jpg
When the water started boiling, I added my pounded Okra into itIMG_20210819_090551.jpg
IMG_20210819_091727.jpgI allowed it to boil for 10 minutes while I constantly stir it and I finally added my parboiled fish
After 2 minutes, I added my sliced Ugwu leaves and cover for 1 minute before bringing the my pot of soup downIMG_20210819_091835.jpg

Finally, my pot of soup is ready for consumption

NOTE:

  • I added my Ogbono into the heated oil to enable it soak to avoid coagulation.
  • My soup can be used to eat a special solid delicacy in Nigeria called swallow
    It could be made from Garri, cornflour, wheat or tuwon rice.
  • Ogbono is a tree found in the eastern part of Nigeria and that produces Ogbono seed
  • Okra is planted all of Nigeria and it's used to prepare soup
  • Ugwu leaves are vegetables found in the garden
  • Dawadawa is the seeds of locust beans that is processes into dawadawa for cooking
